The New Girl, is a relatively new TV series in the US, focusing on the life of a twenty-something schoolteacher, who finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her, and in the haste to find a new appartment ends up living with three guys. So yes, it's another sitcom, but somehow adapted to our times, which can be both a positive and a negative.
First and foremost what sticks out about the show is the amazing resemblance the main character bears to Katy Perry. The similarities are striking, from the style to the erratic behaviour, and I'm forced to believe it could have been intentional. Then, the three guys are the typical men-as-seen-by-women. One is a proffesional basketball player, who's recently fallen from grace and is working on and off as a fitness coach, or a wedding hustler, the other one can't get over being dumped by his girlfriend of three years. The last guy has the self-image of a macho, although very little basis for it. They also keep a douchebag jar, so whenever someone says something douchebag-ish he has to put a dollar in it.
To tell you the truth, I haven't been thrilled with the show so far, the first four or five episodes deal with the New Girl's depression over having lost the love of her life. Her new roommates struggle to keep up with her mood swings, and have to endure her watching Dirty Dancing five or six times a day, amidst a pile of the stuff she picked up, before she left her previous home. Later on she gathers the courage to face off her former boyfriend and rounds up the boys to help her, which turns into a huge melodrama, culminating in people wearing weird hats.
But here's the trailer for the thing, and you can decide for yourselves. I'll probably keep watching, but so far it looks like a bunch of youtubers trying to throw together a sitcom in the style of Friends, with less friends, with the jokes taken from a PG13 version of Sex in The City.

Doesn't sound like my thing but I'm going to wait for the inevitable gang bang. Either they'll do one or someone will do a porn version.
